Groupshow at Gallery Sofie Van de Velde
14 May - 21 June 2026
Without those who experiment, question, and sense cultural shifts before they fully emerge, the world would be quieter — and profoundly poorer in imagination, critique, and hope.
The Wunderwall began as a personal gesture. In her twenties, gallerist Sofie Van de Velde started collecting small, affordable works by young and emerging artists. What emerged was not a hierarchy, but an intuitive constellation: paintings, drawings, photographs, and editions brought together across differences in scale, medium, and voice. Like a contemporary cabinet of curiosities, The Wunderwall became a space where unexpected dialogues unfold.
Within the gallery, the project evolved into a living platform. Positioned at the heart of the space, it offers emerging artists visibility while inviting collectors to encounter new perspectives. A shared ground built through attention, intuition, and a sustained belief in the future of contemporary art.
With The Wunderwall Enlarged, this vision expands onto a new scale. Former Wunderwall artists return to the gallery in an immersive floor-to-ceiling installation, bringing together a dense and vibrant ensemble of perspectives.
As works are sold and removed, the exhibition continues to shift. Some works are replaced, while traces of others remain visible on the walls — quietly recording what has passed. The exhibition itself becomes a reflection of how art lives: never fixed, always shaped by time, exchange, and connection.
The Wunderwall Enlarged celebrates young artists not as a category, but as a necessity. Their practices sharpen our understanding of the present and imagine possible futures. It is an ode to voices that are still unfolding — and a reminder that contemporary art can only continue by making space for those who are just beginning.
Because of the unique nature of this project, the works are exceptionally available through this private webshop link before the public opening.
Please note:
- works can be purchased directly online
- discounts, reservations or options are not possible
