The Wunderwall Enlarged - Delphine Somers

Delphine Somers is an artist based in Brussels. Her painting explores the tension between archetypal motifs from myth, religion, dreams, and history, and contemporary social and cultural realities. She is interested in recurring patterns of human behaviour and how familiar narratives shape the psyche.

For Wunderwall, she presents works from a series started in 2022 based on the 16th-century Augsburg manuscript of miraculous signs. Expanding on this historical source, she adds future social, political, mystical, and humorous “miracles” that use an ancient narrative form to reflect on the present and the cyclical nature of history.
