Collection: The Wunderwall - Elise Debrock invites Sophie Doutreligne

27 June - 30 August 2026

The first edition ofThe Wunderwall Invitesoffers a glimpse into the domestic and artistic world shared by Elise Debrock and Sophie Doutreligne. As lovers, friends and workmates they continually influence one another: the presence of one inevitably colors the work of the other.

Their many shared travels, adventures and encounters form a reservoir of memories that both artists seek to preserve. Although they draw from the same experiences, each processes them in a distinct way. Debrock focuses on capturing moments of immediate beauty—a landscape, an object, a loved one. Doutreligne, by contrast, often distorts personal memories, transforming them into broader reflections shaped by contemporary anxieties, dreams and existential concerns.

Emerging from both artists’ romantic and artistic relationship is an intimate sense of play that runs throughout the exhibition. Debrock channels this through vibrant colour, expressive brushwork and subjects rooted in memories and travels. Doutreligne explores it through alternative realities and the use of materials that challenge conventional distinctions between art, craft and everyday life. Beneath this playfulness, however, lie feelings of loss, uncertainty and emotional fragility, approached through distinct visual languages and media ranging from textile and drawing to painting and ceramics. Fragments of nightmares, symbolic imagery, everyday observations and existential doubts converge into a universe where intimacy and estrangement, tenderness and discomfort, reality and fiction continuously intertwine.
